The Runholder - Te Kairanga

Holmes Construction were engaged as the Main Contractor on this sublime new facility in Martinborough. Home to Te Kairanga Wine and the Lighthouse Gin Distillery, The Runholder project comprised of a restaurant, tasting room, private dining room, gin distillery and commercial kitchen.

Stage 1 of the project commenced in late October 2020 with demolition and earthworks, with the construction of the new facility beginning in December of that year. This stage was successfully handed over to the client in March 2021 to meet the vineyards non-negotiable seasonal harvest timelines. Holmes faced particular challenges to deliver the new barrel room to the timeframe, including working in a constrained site between the vineyards, limited options for buildability and the installation of 12.5 tonne precast structural panels.

The second stage of the winery included a restaurant, on-site sales area, an underground barrel facility, tasting rooms and the gin distillery.
