New World Mirimar

Completed in 2008, this project required demolition of an existing supermarket in stages and the new building and carpark was erected progressively around the remaining old building. The build was challenge due to working around an operating supermarket with hundreds of customers arriving hourly. This site was also an old gas works so the ground was contaminated. This meant any excavated material was trucked away from site and treated before disposal. Staff working in the ground needed to wear protective clothing and masks.
